When we have scanned and digitized your pictures they become just as versatile as the images from a digital camera. Now that High Definition (HD) Television is here it's more important than ever to have your pictures scanned at high resolution. SLIDES: The image area of a 35mm slide is tiny - about the size of a large postage stamp. Scanning an image this small - even at at 2000 dpi - will only allow for relatively small prints. If you want larger prints - or if you want to be able to crop your pictures, improve their composition, straighten wonky horizons etc. - you need to think in terms of 3000 dpi. We go even further (26% further in fact!) scanning your slides at a whopping 3800 dpi (that's optical resolution, not 'interpolated') resulting in an average JPG files of around 5MB each. PRINTS: For prints larger than 6 x 4 in. we scan 'same size' at 300 dpi. Smaller prints are scanned at 600 dpi. If you want us to enlarge your photographs we scan at a higher resolution depending on the size required. Our service includes a high-resolution scan of each slide or photo. These are done individually, by hand (automated systems may be quicker but the results leave a lot to be desired). Images are saved as JPEGs. From these you can make prints, email copies to friends and share them online with services such as Flickr or Photobucket. Images are archived onto CD, DVD or Blu-ray discs. We can also make a slide show from your photos - complete with transitions and background music. Navigate through the images as quickly or as slowly as you like, using your player's remote control. If you want your pictures to appear in a particular sequence please number them in the order you would like them to appear. Pack your slides/photos securely and send by Recorded Delivery or, if you live locally, phone to arrange a free collection. You can of course deliver your photos in person to our Buxton office.
